The hair list at V&F Beauty Lounge runs from a quick trim to a full head of extensions. A Hair Cut is £25.00, a Wash-Cut-Blow Dry is £45.00, Half Head Highlights start at £45.00, and Full Head Extensions are £380.00. It all happens in the salon at 142 London Road in Headington, Oxford.
Cutting and blow drying are easy to price. Colour, smoothing and extensions are not, because hair varies so much from one person to the next. For those we give you a starting price, look at your hair properly, and agree the real figure before anything is mixed or fitted. Nobody wants a surprise at the till.
Cuts, blow dries and the everyday things
A Hair Cut on its own is £25.00. A Blow Dry on its own is also £25.00. Put the two together with a wash and a Wash-Cut-Blow Dry is £45.00. A Kids Cut is £15.00.
Every hair service sits in a standard 30 minute slot in the diary. Treat that as the booking unit rather than the length of your appointment. A cut or a blow dry fits it comfortably. Colour, keratin and extensions need a good deal longer, so tell us what you are after when you ring and we will set aside the right amount of time.
The number is 01865 741333. We are open Monday to Saturday from 10:00 to 18:00, and on Sunday from 11:00, with 15:30 the last appointment of the day.
Highlights, and why the price is a starting point
Half Head Highlights are £45.00 and Full Head Highlights are £60.00. Those are honest starting prices, not a final bill. What a head of highlights actually costs depends on how long and how thick your hair is, what colour it is now, and what has been on it before. Long or very dense hair takes more product and more time, and that shows up in the price.
So we look first. You come in, we talk about what you want, we check the condition of the hair and what history it has, and then you get a figure. If that figure is more than you want to spend, we will tell you what can be done within your budget instead. You are free to leave it there and think about it.
A skin test is needed before your first colour appointment with us, highlights included. That is standard practice across the trade and we do not skip it. Ring ahead and we will get it done in good time, rather than having to turn you away on the day.
Going lighter when your hair has been coloured before
Lightening hair that has already been coloured, bleached or dyed at home is the part of the job that needs the most care. Colour has to be lifted out of the hair, and lifting takes a toll on it. Pushed too far in one sitting, the result is breakage and a texture nobody enjoys living with.
Sometimes that means more than one appointment. We take the hair as far as it will safely go, let it rest, and finish the job on a second visit. We would far rather say that at the consultation than promise you one afternoon and hand back hair we have damaged getting there.
Keratin and smoothing
Brazilian Keratin is £150.00 and Permanent Smoothing is £250.00. Both are for hair that is frizzy or hard to manage, and both make drying it at home quicker. Which one suits you comes down to your hair and what you want from it, so this is another conversation to have before you book rather than after.
Results vary. Coarse, thick hair behaves differently to fine hair, and how long the effect holds depends on your hair and how you look after it. Neither service changes what grows in next. New growth comes through in its own natural texture, which is why smoothing is something people come back for rather than a one off.
We will tell you on the day how long to leave your hair before the first wash, because that depends on what has been used.
Extensions, and keeping them sitting right
Half Head Extensions are £250.00 and Full Head Extensions are £380.00. Half a head adds length and thickness through the back and sides. A full head gives more all over, and it is the one to choose if your own hair is fine or you want a real change in length.
Extensions are not fit and forget. As your own hair grows, the attachment points travel down away from the roots and need moving back up. That is repositioning. A half head is £50.00 to reposition and a full head is £100.00. How often you need it comes down to how fast your hair grows, and we will tell you what to expect for the set you have had fitted.
Colour matching and the method used are both settled at the consultation. Bring a photo if you have one in mind. It saves a lot of describing.
Treatments for dry hair and tired scalps
There are several treatments on the list for hair that feels dry, dull or over processed. A Scalp Care Treatment is £40.00. A Hair Spa is £60.00, a Protein Treatment is £60.00, and there is a dandruff treatment at £60.00.
These are salon conditioning treatments. They feel good, they leave hair in better condition, and that is the whole of the claim. They are not medicine and we will not pretend otherwise. If your scalp is sore, broken or simply not settling down, see a pharmacist or your GP rather than booking a treatment for it.
